Looking for a South African shop Sydney can rely on? Here is the short answer. Biltong and Boerewors has two shops, in Rouse Hill and Penrith, and opens seven days a week. African Vibe covers the north side and the east, with shops at Balgowlah and Rose Bay. Springbok Delights is at Lane Cove North, African Delights is at Dural, and Old Mates Kitchen serves the Central Coast. Biltong, droëwors (the thin, dry, spiced sausage you snack on) and boerewors (the coiled South African farm sausage) are easy to find. The trick is picking the shop that suits your suburb and your Saturday.
Every address, phone number and set of hours below comes from the shop’s own website, checked on 21 October 2026. Where a site does not say, we say so rather than guess. Hours change without warning, so ring ahead before a long drive. Our national directory of South African shops in Australia is the hub; this page goes deeper on Sydney.

What each shop is good for
A quick guide, so you pick the right South African shop Sydney has for the job:
- Fresh boerewors for the weekend: Biltong and Boerewors at Rouse Hill or Penrith, or Springbok Delights at Lane Cove North. All three keep boerewors for collection in store.
- A full grocery run: African Delights at Dural, Springbok Delights, or either African Vibe shop.
- Late and Sunday shopping: Biltong and Boerewors runs until 7pm on weekdays and opens on Sundays, and African Vibe at Balgowlah is open all day Sunday.
- Braai gear, potjies and grids: Biltong and Boerewors, and Springbok Delights for accessories.

The Central Coast and Newcastle
Old Mates Kitchen, Central Coast. 475 Pacific Highway, Wyoming NSW. Phone 0451 749 916. Its website calls this the Green Point store and gives the address as Wyoming, without explaining the difference, so check the map before you set off. The site lists 9am to 5pm for the day but does not give separate hours for other days. It describes itself as a South African food providore, with biltong, droëwors, boerewors and a pantry of hard-to-find groceries. On Saturdays it also sells prepared South African-inspired meals while they last.
Newcastle Biltong Co, Sandgate. Unit 1, 1 Rural Drive, Sandgate NSW 2304. Phone 0492 958 312. Tuesday 9am to 2pm, Wednesday and Thursday 9am to 4pm, Friday 9am to 5pm, Saturday 9am to 1.30pm, and closed Sunday and Monday. It is a long way north of Sydney, but it is the nearest confirmed shop for the Hunter and it ships nationwide in two to three working days, according to its site.
Online delivery across Sydney and New South Wales
If the nearest shop is an hour away, most of these businesses will post. Biltong and Boerewors delivers across Australia. Newcastle Biltong Co ships nationwide. Springbok Delights offers nationwide postage, apart from boerewors. African Vibe sells online, but its site does not spell out delivery costs, so check at checkout. Parcels that travel by post can be tracked through Australia Post.
Fresh wors is the part that needs a plan. Food Standards Australia New Zealand says chilled food of this kind should arrive at 5°C or below, in its guide to receiving food safely. That page is written for businesses, but the number is a good one for your own boot: bring a cooler bag and drive straight home. When you get there, our guide to how to braai boerewors takes you from coil to coals. If a shop has run out of something, the South African ingredient substitutes guide covers the supermarket swaps.

Still checking
These names turn up in directories, but we could not confirm their details on their own websites, so they are not in the list above. We have not guessed.
- Stanley Street Butchery, St Ives. Its website says it is open seven days and sells biltong, boerewors and South African groceries, but it gives no street number, phone or hours.
- Big Five Lapa, Woonona, near Wollongong. Its website did not show any details to our tools. If you know it, tell us.
- The Saffa Shop, possibly in Wollongong. It may be a separate business from a shop of the same name in Victoria, and neither publishes a street address.
If you know any of these shops well, tell us and we will update the page.
